We were delighted to support our client, based in Verwood, Dorset, with a full bedroom and ensuite transformation. Using thoughtfully designed bespoke fitted furniture, our team curated a modern but functional space for our customer using fitted bedroom and bathroom furniture from Custom Creations.

Client Brief:

Originally, the room didn’t inspire our client, neutrally decorated with traditional furniture such as freestanding bedside units and a headboard. Seeking a seamless solution, designed around his television and sound system, the client wanted to achieve a clean look and glossy finish using bespoke fitted bedroom furniture. Additionally, the bedroom lead into an accompanying ensuite, also requiring a refresh and review on how to optimise the space available using individually crafted fitted bathroom furniture.

Bespoke TV Unit

Firstly, the team began crafting a bespoke TV unit, ensuring the client could view the television comfortably from the bed. We then designed a collection of fitted bedroom furniture to accompany the unit on each side, fitting the bespoke TV unit seamlessly into a spacious fitted wardrobe. To curate a contemporary design, the team recommended installing the wardrobe in a colour that contrasted the door colours, achieving a beautiful finish.

The bespoke TV unit has also been thoughtfully designed to cleverly disguise the pull down door that allows the customer access to the sound system controls, whilst keeping them out of sight and free from dust.

Fitted Bedroom Furniture

Giving the illusion of a floating bed, this bespoke bedroom furniture was created with the underside supports set back, creating a unique and innovative appearance to elevate the rooms design. The team then designed a bespoke oversized backboard to add softness to the room, as well as providing a distinctive, contemporary look.

The team then incorporated the bedside unit into the matching side panels of the backboard, creating a beautiful contemporary look with the practicality required for storing books and night time drinks.

A pelmet was fitted along the top of the bespoke headboard to subtly incorporate the wires that fed down behind the side panels to a dimmer switch that fitted neatly in the panel, making the switch easily accessible to the client. The stylish pendant lighting creates a powerful visual effect to the backboard, hanging from the pelmet to provide lighting above the built-in bedside units.

Fitted Bathroom Furniture

The colour scheme of the bedroom was carried subtly into the ensuite with custom fitted bathroom furniture, picking up the wardrobe carcass colour to create a wall framed mirror with contemporary fitted lighting. Matching fitted bathroom units were then fitted on top of a box, hiding unattractive bathroom pipes, which the customer then tiled to match the rest of the walls, maintaining the desired seamless look.

Designing fitted furniture around a specific focal point, such as a television can sometimes be a challenge, with the overall look of the furniture impacted if not balanced correctly. With this room, the seamless look that the customer required was cleverly achieved by contrasting colours and clean, mitred angles of the streamlined bespoke TV unit. Further, the light pelmet designed to hide the wires and pendant light fixings provides another great example for how bespoke fitted furniture can achieve a neat result without compromising on style.

The Results

Following the installation of bespoke fitted furniture, the bedroom appears more spacious thanks to the ‘floating’ bed gives the illusion of additional floor space, which combined with the gloss effect look gives the room a light and airy feel.

With specific design requirements, the installation of bespoke fitted furniture can sometimes be challenging, however thanks to our talented team and their expertise, the overall result has successfully achieved the clean and seamless look that the client outlined in the brief.

Our client was delighted with the overall finish and look of the fitted furniture across the bedroom and ensuite, including the bespoke TV unit. The client informed us they “were overwhelmed with the finished result that went beyond the expectations of his brief.” They also shared that previously, the room seemed to feel small, but even with all the furniture in it now, it looks a much bigger room and feels spacious. He felt that every box had been ticked; the custom bedroom storage and bespoke TV unit for his DVD’s, media games and music sat perfectly alongside the storage for clothes and shoes all hidden behind a beautiful run of fitted bedroom furniture.
