Working from home for good? Here's how a fitted office wall makes a small bedroom feel like a proper workspace.
A surprising number of our installs since 2020 have been spare-bedroom-to-home-office conversions. The brief is almost always the same: a desk that's deeper than IKEA can manage, lockable filing storage, a wall of bookshelves that doesn't dominate the room, and a way to hide the printer.
We treat the home office as a single fitted run, wall-to-wall. Open shelves at one end for books and personal photos. A long desk in the middle with a discreet cable trough behind it. Lockable lateral filing at the other end. A vented printer cupboard underneath.
Three details that make a real difference: a pull-out keyboard tray at the right height (which your back will thank you for), a power-and-data trough integrated into the desk so you never see a cable, and acoustic-backed cupboard doors so video calls don't echo.
Finishes that work: deep matt blues and forest greens are the colour of the year for offices, paired with brushed brass handles. Light wood with white painted shelves works just as well if you want a calmer scheme.
Most home office runs we fit cost between £3,500 and £8,000 depending on length and complexity. Comfortably less than the cost of renting a co-working desk for two years.
